Introducing the bags from the recent Chanel Cruise 2021 collection. Due to Covid-19, Chanel launched a video and lookbook of their latest Chanel collection, which originally was to be set in Capri. This collection is set to be available in November 2020. Virginie Viard borrowed from past seasons and re-incorporated them into the collection (such as the basket weave vanity bag) because she felt that they are so special why not feature them again? This hearkens to perhaps a way to ease supply chain issues by offering the same bags from last season but I'm not sure how it will play out among Chanel aficionados who look forward to new and better bags each season.
Handbags felt more or less the same, the Chanel 19 is back but this time in a variety of different materials including sequins and terry cloth. The black and white classic flap bags are likely going to be the standout hit, along with the Airpods holders. The bags felt overall safe and a bit underwhelming. Each season since Karl, the Chanel handbags have almost felt like an after thought -- especially this season since old bags were being brought back into the same collection without even a change. I will admit though that when the collection is officially released there are usually a few good pieces that Chanel lovers will covet. Runway shows and presentations so far haven't made us too excited.
