The Chanel Fall-Winter 2019/2020 Haute Couture collection by Virginie Viard has once again made a fashion narrative a grand one at The Grand Palais in Paris.
Inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s daytime apartment and her love for literature, Chanel Fall-Winter 2019/2020 Haute Couture Fashion Show Chanel delivers two collection shows per year made up of day and evening wear. Originally designed by artistic director Karl Lagerfeld way back 1983, Viard is now continuing the the legacy of “flou” ateliers with the use of delicate materials like tulle, organza, chiffon and lace, while “tailoring” ateliers for jackets, skirts, pants and coats in thick fabric like tweeds.
Let's also not forget about Chanel's Maisons d’art of high end embroiders, feather workers, creasers who makes this beautiful collection an awesome one. The classic Chanel tweed jacket is presented in overcoats of various button-up style, while dreamy and flowing embroidered sequin on the dresses is definitely stunning. The combination of inner and outerwear surely delights Chanel clients and fans.
With other designers usually taking a bow after the show, Viard stayed in the backstage together with the embroiderers, feather artists, button and ribbon makers, most of whom have worked with her for three decades, all making an applause for a job well done. The design that Viard has flourished all throughout the years, "savoir faire", with this amazing team of handcrafters is well shown in this star-studded fashion show.
